♥ In Tempo '08 is finally over...

Finally, In Tempo 'O8 is over. After months of practising and rehearsing, the concert finally ended with a Big Bang... Yeah, a Big Bang.

Looking back... I'm so lucky that i was part of this and decided to join for this concert. At first, I had doubts if I should join this concert, coz i was in Chingay and will miss many practices, especially sectionals, which falls on the Chingay rehearsal. Knew that i wasn't a good player, and i didn't have much time to practise, I really tot of missing out from this concert.Luckily, i have a great SL, Daniel, who don't mind me missing so many sectionals and even come down on tue to practise with me. =)

In the end, not sure if it's lucky or unlucky, I decided to join the concert and my poor Tuba section had to put up with my mediocre playing... Hope they din mind. =P But personally, i enjoyed playing with them... Yup...

Other than Chingay trainings, my school work also increased this sem. Maybe coz i'm now year two, modules are harder and there seems to be never-ending projects, esp Biz Com, super sian... =( But luckily, there's band practices in which i can relax and take a break from my work. =)

Had problem with selling my tickets also. Haiz... asked quite a few of my friends but they were busy or had something on. In the end, i could only manage to sell 3 tickets to my dad, mum, and brother. As concert drew near, I was panicking coz everyone had to sell 6 tickets compulsory, if not have to absorb the cost, but i only sold 3!!! =( Luckily, Dearx helped me by "transferring" the sale of 3 of her sold tickets to me. Really thanks a lot. =) hehe...

As for the pieces, as usual, don't really like them initially. But as we practised and rehearsed again and again, I gradually like them more and more, especially Planet Earth. Think it's that kind of song we'll like more as we listen or play more.

Before the concert day, the band sounded good, as usual. LOL... But i was afraid if the concert day will be as good as rehearsal. Think throughout my band life, I was never really satisfied at the end of my concert. Somehow, I'll tend not to play as well as in concert as compared to rehearsal, in the past. Perhaps it's due to stress... but it's kind of regret not to be able to play at your best.

When the concert started, the same thoughts inevitably came across my mind... will it be a great success or a screw up? Though musicians are supposed to only concentrate on music only during performance, I just can't help it.

Finally, the time for Planet Earth has come. The piece started quite nicely, but the tension and stress is still there. Then, there was something wrong with the sound system for a particular instrument (I shall not mention more so that ppl outside NUSWS will never know what is it.. lol =P). Once again, Murphy struck and i was wondering if this was a bad omen. Fortunately, it was not. As the song progress, all the impt parts were played nicely and like wad Derek said, once the timpani solo was ok, that was it! We knew we can make it a great success. =) and I think we really did it!
Never have I felt so wonderful before after a concert. We knew that we have not disappoint the piece. =) No matter what other ppl may say, at least, i believe I have no regret in this concert. =)

Maybe the only regret was that i din take a lot of photos.. lol... =P

Must really thank Mr Tan, for trusting the band and giving us such wonderful opportunity to be part of this. Thank my section for the support and fun that i've had. thank all those who came or bought tickets but can't make it. =P Thank my Dearx... and everyone who are involved in this concert. =)

Had a great concert... =)

♥ Italy Trip (Day 1 part 2)

After taking the amazing floating platform, our host family took us to a nearby bridge. The bridge is a famous bridge, which for some reason, i've forgotten its name. LOL... the bridge is special coz it's huge and it's being used by both cars (on top) and trains (in the middle).

We then went to this dam which should be quite famous ba.. lol... Anyway, it's my first time seeing a dam so it's still a good experience. When i'm at the dam, i can truly admire the beauty of nature. So beautiful... =)

When we got back, we had dinner with our host family. Yummy, Angela's cooking is really good. Btw, my host family don't know how to speak English, so Ming Wei and I often required their children and grandchildren's help as they could speak English to a certain extent. However, when their children weren't around, we would have a hard time trying to communicate with ur hands and the help of a small Italian guide book from Ming Wei. Lol... During the dinner, we found that Luigi and Angela were strong supporters of this bi-annual band festival in Besana as they have been hosting musicians almost every time. The last time was two Israelis musicians i think. How admirable...

At night, it was the opening concert by the band of Besana. One of their horn players is my host family's grandson.

This is the junior marching band of Besana. So cute...
The opening concert was held at this temporary built tentage beside the Town Church. Think the band was loud, no doubt about it. But the balance sounded quite off. Most probably becoz of the poor accoustics i think.
The concert marked the end of our first day in Italy. =)

♥ I'm lacking in general knowledge!!!

Think my general knowledge cannot make it. Was in this Asia Pacific tutorial just now. Saw many people giving lots of comments and bringing out the most current global issues like nobody business. I'm like... erm... don't know how to get into their conversation.

Oh no, this is bad! coz tutorial participation is worth 15% and the tutor does not mark attendance at all. She only takes note of ppl who speak.

Gotta buck up liao...

-- TO MY FRIENDS --

Patience and endurance are essential factors in order for us to be victorious or successful. (Whatever we might be facing right now,) a path to victory will definitely open up. Each and every day, therefore, let's continue to challenge ourselves to overcome every obstacle confidently, boldly and with conviction.
